Dr. Avnish Seth is an alumnus of Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, MD (Medicine) from Pune University, and DM (Gastroenterology) from PGIMER, Chandigarh. He has fellowships in liver transplantation from Birmingham, UK, as well as Advanced GI Endoscopy & Endoscopic Ultrasound from South Carolina and Alabama, USA, and has been a member of the Governing Council at the Indian Society of Gastroenterology (ISG), and the Society of GI Endoscopy of India (SGEI). Dr. Seth, as a recognized teacher for MBBS, DNB (Medicine) and now DNB (Gastroenterology) has more than 100 publications to his credit. Apex Technical Committee of the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO) and Advisory Board member of the Multi Organ Harvesting Aid Network (MOHAN) Foundation. Dr. Seth is the Chair of the Expert Committee of ‘Ang Daan Yojana’, an initiative of the Government of Haryana, India associated with the Working Group on Donation after Circulatory Death (DCD) in India. He received the Vishisht Seva Medal from the President of India in 2009, for establishing the first successful liver transplant program in the Government hospital at Army Hospital (Research & Referral), New Delhi. This preceded the Smt. Ranjana Vij Memorial Medal for first position in MD Medicine at the University of Poona.
