Dr. Ganesh K Mani, Chairman of Cardio-Thoracic & Vascular Surgery at Max Smart Super Specialty Hospital and recipient of the Padma Shri, is widely regarded as a pioneer in Cardiac Surgery in India. With a career spanning prestigious institutions such as Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, he has personally performed over 20,000 Cardiac Surgeries with nearly zero mortality in elective heart surgeries. He introduced "Beating Heart Coronary Artery Bypass" in Delhi in 2000 and has since conducted over 8,000 Off-pump CABGs. Dr. Mani has served as Chief Cardiac Surgeon at Railway Hospital Perambur TN, Batra Hospital, Apollo Hospitals, and Delhi Heart & Lung Institute. Recognized with the 'National Citizens Award' by the Vice President of India in 1992 and the 'National Excellence Award' by former Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar in 1996, he received the prestigious 'Padma Shri Award' from President Pranab Mukherji in 2013. Apart from Coronary Artery Surgery, he has extensive experience in valve surgeries and congenital heart surgeries. Dr Mani is dedicated to performing free heart surgeries for underprivileged children through initiatives like the Rotary Foundation's 'Gift of Life' scheme, supported by Max India Foundation and the Health Education and Research Trust.
