Overview

Dr Subhash Gupta is the Chairman of the Max Centre for Liver and Biliary Sciences, one of the largest liver transplant centres globally, with over 3,000 transplants to its credit. The centre performs more than 200 transplants annually, along with an equal number of complex hepatopancreatic biliary (HPB) cases. Dr. Gupta is responsible for maintaining safety protocols across all divisions, including Hepatology, Anesthesia, and Critical Care. He joined Max Healthcare in January 2017, bringing over 30 years of experience in Surgical Gastroenterology, Liver Transplantation, and HPB Oncology.

Dr Gupta has received numerous awards and honours throughout his career. He holds the position of Professorship in Surgery from Apollo Health Education and Research Foundation and the Institute of Postgraduate Education and Medical Research, Kolkata, as Professor of Liver Transplantation. He was awarded the Delhi Medical Association Gold Medal in 2005 and was recognized for excellence in clinical medicine by the Rotary Association of India in 2012. On Doctor's Day in 2012, he received the Vishist Chikitsh Rattan (Distinguished Clinician) award from the Delhi Medical Association. In 2014, his team was a finalist for the BMJ India Awards' "Surgical Team of the Year". The Apollo Health Foundation has named him an Honorary Professor of Surgery. In 2016, he was honoured with the prestigious Yash Bharti award by the Uttar Pradesh government, Dr B.C. Roy award by the Medical Council of India, and the title of Honorary Professor of Kazakhstan.
